It's a Wonderful Nutcracker blends the magic and wonder of a traditional Nutcracker with the heartwarming message from Frank Capra's 1940's film, It's a Wonderful Life, The result brings two of the world's most heralded holiday classics together in a clever way that is warm, funny and uniquely entertaining.
What’s different about our production?
Rather than a traditional Victorian-era setting, our story takes place in the 1940s and features sumptuous period sets, stylish costumes of the day, and a splash of Duke Ellington to complement Tchaikovsky's heralded musical score. Our international cast features a roster of glorious professional ballet artists and ballroom dancers.
Our aim was to create a nutcracker that would capture the attention of each and every audience member, from the very young to the young at heart, including any skeptical first-time ballet goers. The result is a character-driven tale with entertaining characters and situations not typically found in traditional nutcrackers. We even discovered a way for a mischievous, misguided Mouse King to experience a life-altering epiphany when he learns that love and connection are way more fun than greed and divisiveness!
